Dürrin Ulema

Architect | Co-Founder

We established Ulema and Ulema Architecture in 1996 together with my husband and partner, Necdet. Our designs reflect the creative yet functional approach we learned at the Department of Architecture at Dokuz Eylül University, where form supports function. The knowledge I gained through my MSc in Building Construction Management at ITU led me to focus on project management. My seven years of middle and high school education at Izmir American College, with its motto 'Enter to learn, depart to serve,' helped me develop discipline in achieving results, mastering foreign languages, and overcoming challenges. In addition to English, I speak German and Italian. I am a member of the Izmir Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Contemporary Life Support Association, the Olive Tree Association, and the Women Entrepreneurs' Board of TOBB. I served on the Board of Directors of the Izmir Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Izmir Free Architects Association, and I am currently the 11th Term President of the IzmirSMD. I am also a member of various advisory boards in higher education institutions. My profession is architecture, and I also work professionally in agriculture, focusing on farming and culinary arts.
